Libya Internet Outage – February 2011

On 18 February 2011, at approximately 23:00 UTC, the global Internet connection in Libya was seriously disrupted.
The normal functioning state was restored the morning after, but subsequent intermittent disruptions occurred for several days.

The graph below shows the visibility of BGP prefixes originated in Libya during the affected period.

The following chart represents the visibility of prefixes announced by Libya Telecom & Technology (LTT), the main national ISP, showing a partial disconnect of their routes.

By looking into one of LTT's disconnected prefixes, 41.252.64.0/18, we see a higher level of detail of the AS path changes that led to the BGP withdrawal, and subsequent re-announcement.
